There are 8 days, 22 hours, and 45 minutes until the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.  Vancouver, British Columbia will be the lucky city to host this sport spectacular.  It is located in western Canada and has an average precipitation of 47.2 inches.  The world's top athletes will converge on this ethnically diverse metropolitan area and showcase their countless hours of training.  One of my favorite winter events is the ski jump.  The world record is 239 meters (784 feet) held by a jumper from Norway.  That is more like ski flying!  The biathlon is one of the more curious events.  It is the combination of cross-country skiing and rifle shooting.  I can see how this event started (wilderness hunters) but I'm not convinced it should be an Olympic event.  Kind of like "rhythmic gymnastics" (you know, the ribbon).  All in all, I will be glued to the television during the 21st Winter Games and I urge you to support our great competitors from the United States.  Do you prefer the summer or winter events?
