Day three of our quick trip to the Pacific coast and we were here at the Asilomar State Beach crawling around the rocks like crabs in a boiling pot.  We were in search of sea anemones, sea cucumbers, starfish, fish, etc.  We didn't find any of those but we saw a bunch of hermits and some unidentified creatures.  Caleena said that these cracks and crevices were normally teaming with life.  It must have been the cold.  Don't let the short sleeve shirts in this picture fool you.  As soon as the shots were snapped the coats went back on.  We walked to a nearby pizza place where the food was really good.  Afterwards we rented a large "surrey" and bicycled our way from Cannery Row to Lover's Point (look it up on Google Maps/Earth).  We had 5 adults and 2 kids on this thing.  Only 4 of the adults could pedal and none of the children.  There were two steering wheels however one was disabled.  I kind of sat back and waited for people to jockey for position then we were directed where to sit.  I had the working steering wheel.  There was bit of a learning curve and I had more than twice the normal amount of back seat drivers.  Our "surrey" didn't have the best of brakes so we couldn't go as fast as we wanted.  As Clair put it, it was some really good quality time together.  We saw 50 sea lions sunning themselves on the beach and we almost missed them because they were skillfully camouflaged as rocks on the sand.  After we returned the contraption we briefly stopped by a magic shop and then grabbed some ice cream.  All in all it was a very special day and the evening of game playing should bring the same results.  Do you own a white shirt?
